San Francisco
Minutes of
1999
Annual
Meeting
March 21,
1999.
San Francisco,
California
Forty-four
members and friends attended the meeting. Dr. Win
Chan, the president, opened the meeting by
welcoming everyone at 5:50 pm and gave a brief history of the Association. Dr.
Chao then reported that Dr. Hong Wu had set up a
web page for the Association. Everyone was encouraged to give her his/her
e-mail
address. Dr. Chan asked for permission of the members to continue the support of
a fellowship for Chinese pathologists to receive short-term training in Hong
Kong. Dr. H. K. Ng from Hong Kong IAP gave a progress report of the program and
indicated that the support from the IACP is important for the continuation of
the program. A motion to continue the support was seconded and passed. The
executive committee proposed a temporary change of the by-law due to the
reluctance of the current secretary-treasurer to become the new president elect.
The change involved a change from two to one year for the next
secretary-treasurer, who would then become president-elect after one year and
followed by a new secretary-treasurer. The president-elect would become new
president after one year. The motion was seconded and passed by the members. Dr.
He-Huang. Harry Chang from West Virginia was nominated and voted unanimously to
be the next secretary-treasurer. The new president, Dr. Sage Lee, presented a
plaque to Dr. Chan for his contribution as President to the IACP. A motion to
have an option of life membership fee was proposed and Dr. Chan would bring the
proposal to the executive committee for discussion. However, the concern was
that this would significantly reduce the opportunities for members to make
donations with their annual dues.
